Stamatina (Matina) Yannakourou is affiliated with the European University Cyprus, School of Law, as Assistant Professor in Labour Law. Previously she was the Deputy Ombudsperson for Gender Equality in Greece. She has also worked as permanent consultant at the Economic and Social Council of Greece, as government advisor to the Secretary General for Gender Equality, and as independent labour law expert with the European Commission (DG EMPL). She holds a law degree from the School of Law of the National & Kapodistrian University of Athens. She received a Master’s degree (DEA) in Social and Trade Union Law and a PhD in Labour Law, with summa cum laude, from the University Paris Nanterre in France. She has authored five books and multiple articles in English, French and Greek on various issues of European, Greek and Cyprus Labour Law, social dialogue and collective bargaining, gender equality and antidiscrimination law in the area of employment. She has conducted research on new forms of work in the gig economy and the future of work.
