Stamatina Yannakourou

Assistant Professor at the School of Law of the European University Cyprus

Stamatina (Matina) Yannakourou is Assistant Professor in Labor Law at the School of Law of the European University of Cyprus. Previously she was the Deputy Ombudsperson for Gender Equality in Greece. She has also worked as permanent consultant at the Economic and Social Council of Greece, as government advisor to the Secretary General for Gender Equality, and as an independent labour law expert with the European Commission (DG EMPL). She holds a Law degree from the School of Law of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens as well as a Master’s degree (DEA) in Social and Trade Union Law and a PhD in Labour Law, with summa cum laude, from the University Paris Nanterre in France. She has authored five books and multiple articles in English, French and Greek on various issues of European, Greek and Cypriot Labour Law, social dialogue and collective bargaining as well as gender equality and anti-discrimination law in employment. She has also conducted research on new forms of work in the gig economy and the future of work.
