Panagiotis Koulouvaris

Assistant Professor of the First Orthopaedic Clinic at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, President of the NGO Regeneration and Progress and SNF Health Advisor

Dr. Panagiotis Koulouvaris graduated from the National and Kapodistrian University (NKUA) of Athens Medical School and School of Physical Therapy. He specialized in Orthopaedic Surgery and has completed his Clinical and Research fellowships in Joint Reconstruction and Sports Medicine at the Hospital for Special Surgery at Cornell University in New York.

He is currently Assistant Professor of the First Orthopaedic Clinic at NKUA and International Ambassador of the Hospital for Special Surgery. He is Supervisor of the Postgraduate Programme “Exercise and Health” at the NKUA. He is also Supervisor of the "Sports Excellence Program" and Mobile Medical Units, an initiative and exclusive grant by the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF) as well as for the implementation of "Education in Trauma" for medical students, nurses and rescuers as part of the "Health Initiative" of the SNF.  He is member of the FOCOS team in Ghana. He is also member of the Committee for the NKUA's "Management of Natural Disaster".

He has been an elite athlete of Triathlon and has participated in 15 Marathon runs and in 8 Marathon Swimming races. He has served as the Director of Sports and Culture in the Municipality of Vouliagmeni in Athens. He has also been Head Physician of the National Team of Triathlon and Rowing in the Olympic Games during 2004-2008.
