Dr James Giordano is Professor of Neurology, Biochemistry, and Ethics at Georgetown University Medical Center in Washington, DC, USA. He is Senior Ethicist of the Defense Medical Ethics Center, Adjunct Professor of Psychiatry at the Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences, at Bethesda, Maryland, USA, and Distinguished Gast Professor of Brain Science, and Ethics at the Coburg University of Applied Sciences in Germany.

He is the author of over 350 publications, 9 books, and 25 governmental reports on brain science, and ethics as well as an elected member of the European Academy of Science and Arts, and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Medicine in the UK.

It is critical to discern science fact from science fiction, and to define the actual capabilities, and limitations of both brain-computer interfacing technologies, and of those individuals and groups that are engaged in their development, use, and regulation.
